The Clare District Soccer League are running a Poker Classic on Friday 12th December 2008 at 9PM in the Abbey room at West County Hotel. Mike Talty who will be running the Classic on behalf of the Clare League addressed the delegated on Tuesday night and stressed that its important for all clubs to support this event. As an incentive to sell tickets all clubs who sell more than 5 tickets will be entered into a draw for a set of gear. There will also be a raffle for all clubs who have 2 or more people in attendance on the night.
The Senior Introductory Certificate Coaching Course has been set for Friday Feb 20th (7pm - 10pm), Saturday Feb 21st (9.30am - 5.30pm) and Sunday Feb 22nd (9.30am - 4.30pm) at St Flannans College - duration 18 Hours - cost 75 euro per person. Limited to 24 places. Anyone interested in attending this course should contact Oliver Fitzpatrick asap as places are filling up fast on this course. Any manager who is attending this course will have a free weekend.
Disappointment was expressed at the meeting that no Clare clubs qualified for the open draw of the FAI Junior Cup. Everyone wishes the 3 Clare teams in the open draw for the Munster Junior Cup the best for this competition. There is no reason why our teams can't challenge for the title this season.
The Adult Leagues will be taking a two week break for Christmas after the 14th December. Matches will resume on the 4th January.
The U17/Youths Leagues will have a one week break after the 20th December. Matches will resume on the 3rd January.
The Clare League have big plans to develop the County Grounds and have got Corey Stevens to issue a report which is being reviewed at the moment.
If there is any descrepencies with any fines issued by the Clare League then contact Frank Healy to sort out. Some clubs are very good at paying fines while others are not. Its important that the secretary of your club deals with fines on time as players are illegal if fines are not paid. Now that the deadline for payment of fines has elapsed matches will be awarded against any team that plays a player with an outstanding fine.
Michael Leahy will be running a first aid course in the new year for interested clubs.
The Clare Oscar Traynor team will be taking on Roscommon at Cassidy Park on Saturday. Its important that every clubs supports the team at the weekend. We need to win to make the quarter finals. This match is taking place at Cassidy Park as the County Grounds cut up bad at the weekend. The pitch is now closed while maintenace work is being carried out.
Munster Junior Cup
The 4th round (open round) draw of the Lucozade Sport Munster Junior and Youths Cup competitions will take place at a meeting of the executive committee of the Association on the 11th December 2008.
