Volunteer Study

I am contacting you on behalf of the Irish Sports Council in   
relation to a study investigating motivations, capacities, needs and 
resources of volunteers involved in delivering sport and physical   
activity programs to children between 4 and 18 years. This study is   
part of a larger research project examining the sports participation 
and physical activity levels of children in Ireland.

The Irish Sports Council is interested in two perspectives, the club 
and the volunteer perspective.  There are two online 
questionnaires,  the first questionnaire targets administrators and 
examines club  issues of supporting, engaging and retaining the 
volunteer  workforce. The second questionnaire targets volunteers 
who work  directly with children and youth on the ground and 
examines issues  that affect these people.

Each questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The   
administrator questionnaire should be filled in by a member of the   
club (president, chairperson, administrator) who is in a position to 
represent the club's view and has access to information about   
participants, facilities and the volunteer workforce.  The volunteer 
questionnaire is for all volunteer participants (in any capacity   
including the administrators) that work in your club.

If you are the administrator and a volunteer we would encourage you   
to fill out both questionnaires.

Benefits to the participants:

All participants who fully complete and submit a questionnaire will   
be entered into a prize draw. There are two prizes, one for each   
questionnaire.
