AVIVA Club of the Month Awards
The Football Association of Ireland recently launched the online form for the annual AVIVA Club of the Month Awards in conjunction with The Irish Daily Star and Citywest Hotel. The awards will recognise clubs' achievements and displays, on and off the field of play. The awards, which are now in their third year, will distinguish some of the finest football clubs in the country through a series of monthly prizes culminating in the AVIVA Club of the Year Award, which will take place in Monaghan on Friday July 3rd to coincide with the FAI’s “Festival of Football” prior to the Association’s AGM on Saturday, July 4th.
The AVIVA Club of the Month Award will be presented each month in partnership with the Irish Daily Star and Citywest Hotel. Selected clubs will receive a plaque and a cash prize and will be role models to other clubs.
The clubs will be judged on six different criteria including, administration, coaching, participation numbers, facilities, performance and contribution to the community.
Announcing the AVIVA Club of the Month Awards, Football Association of Ireland President, David Blood said, “We are now into the third year of these esteemed awards and the response that we have received from clubs and leagues over the past two years has been outstanding. Clubs throughout the country play a valuable role, every day, not only in football, but in their local community. We want to reward these clubs and highlight the fundamental role that they play in our game and in society as a whole.”
The President of the FAI also stressed that it was not only cup winning clubs who are rewarded in the AVIVA Club of the Month Awards: “The awards are based on a wide range of criteria from administration and facilities, to contribution to the local community. Many people work tirelessly for their club at all levels and this award is to acknowledge and reward the fantastic work that is being done,” added David Blood.
